Yeah, its pretty much ” horses for courses “, whatever suits. I like the a analogy of the placebo effect. If you are into fitting up your horn with Klangs, mysterious stones etc; I can imagine a much younger self, thinking ” yeah, this really works “.
The W W W has a !of to answer to.
Give a poor, lazy player the best horn out there, he’s still…[Read more] -

There is a guy makes a good $$$ promoting all this stuff. Everything from ” magic stones “, Klangs, embouchure tools.
Every single one he gives a rave review.
I asked him ” surely ALL of this stuff can’t be for real ”
Starting players right now must have a hard enough time these days choosing a horn. This Tai secrecy, who makes what for who is a…[Read more] -

Seriously, somebody made the point, did the greats; Webster, Hawk, Prez, use this stuff.
No !!! Did they sound unreal and set the benchmark ?
YUP !!
So many pointless gimmicks out there, but hey, if they work for you !!

Jaquet gets a mention every time the Texas tenors come up. Illinois was the head honcho.
” Flying Home ”
” Hand Clappin “…Red Prysock.
Two tunes, a little daunting to say the least. I’d really like to suggest you guys take a look at the dots for both. Get these under your belt, your going places.
Yeah, Bro Cavefish, ole Illinois was one hep cat !! -

Yeah, the ” night train ” guy. That track is a lot slower on the original take than people think.
This sounds pretty similar, same vibe anyhow.
Hope everybody’s good…later.. Jak -

Just had a look on pre loved Peter. Every mpc is a Lawton ..lol !!
Real nice Lupifaro about ten miles from me. Can’t afford it but might shoot over and give it a blast.
All Lawton’s….lol !! Well, I did say, I really didn’t mind keeping it. Might get a mpc head who gets carried away with the ” real early “…. It really is. No worries, well see… -

Thanks Peter, I’m in the market for a hr tenorsax mpc right now; that’s why I’m selling the Lawton.
Between my Link, and Berg , I can get pretty bright.
Few wine bar gigs coming up. Sure I could use the link but I want that Getz whisper; that’s what the audience are gonna want too.
Options are open as to what. If the Lawton doesn’t sell, I won’t…[Read more] -

Peter, hi mate. Longtime , how’s things ?
That’s a great tale, so you met the guy ….great !!
Heard not great reports about Jason’s work.
In short , I was told he was finishing the blanks his Father had left …end of story.
In saying that , the mpc snobs know it all.

GRAHAM !! Thanks man. Yeah that ” head hands feet solo ” was solid.
Gato ? Not a big influence either, but I do like the way he makes his South American roots ( Bolivia ) come through.
Small world huh …😊 -

Yeah Johnny, the guy Geoff Lawton came from a real small town here in UK. Back then no www. I know a few players on American bases traded them for other mpcs. Gradually I guess they made there way into the US !!
James Carter, as I said , yeah , sounds great .
The price ? It is what it is man; fair I’d say, though I got it a little cheaper ?
