Hey Johnny! Hope all is well. You deserve a good break! I haven’t been so active myself for a few months. Fixing up some medical issues. Should be OK shortly. Post a pic of your boat when you are finished with it.

Love the Air Force hat SERGEANT SYLVESTRA!!!
Good job, the only thing it needs is an audio editing program (DAW). It would give you more control on the mix. I use the free download “Audacity”. It is available in windows or mac. I use a Apple mini mac. Awesome little computer and it has preloaded video editing software called Apple iMovie. That is…[Read more]

Very Very well done! Great job on that tune. Love the reverb level of the sax. Gives it a mellow “love Song” ambiance. It is obvious that you are an accomplished saxophonist. I will keep my eyes out for more of your recordings. What DAW are you using for your recordings. I use “AUDACITY” because it is free and I think it is a pretty good DAW. I…[Read more]

Hey Leo,,,,,,great find! I love the dueling saxes. I have always wanted to record something and then come back in and record harmony to myself in a video. I am thinking about it. Need to pick a song an go from there. It would be fun if you and I could collaborate and do a song together. If you were using a DAW (digital audio work station) we could…[Read more]

Hey Mike! Love that fish you are holding. I love fishing.
By the way. Thanks to your post on this topic I have finally figured out what vintage Selmer BundyII I have. I went to the link you posted about your Signett. My is definitely a Morgan-Engineered Signet (Selmer BundyII). The link described exactly how you could determine if your sax is a…[Read more] -

Johnny has done yet another brilliant interpretation for sax of a great song! I am still in awe for his ability to interpret a vocal song in translation to an instrumental saxophone.
Leo,,,,I am pushing thru “honky tonk” and I think I will be able to start a first cut in about a week. I wish I could practice every day but “caretaker”…[Read more] -

Nice going Leo. You are a production machine! I should have something recorded and out within a few weeks. It is warming up here in Baton Rouge. I have been wanting to try a fibre reed for a while now. I will pick one up when I go to the music shop to get my sax checked. Can’t wait to get back into production myself.

Leo,,,,,I declare. Every time I log in to one of your post you just sound better and better. Great job on the high notes. I sense an increase in your “Feeling”for the songs you are doing. Great Job! “My” tendency on this number would be to put a “minor” growl into some parts of the song,,,particularly the high notes,,,,,to give it even more…[Read more]

It appears that you have resolved to the best approach for your situation. Sorry I was of no help there. I maybe wrong but I sense you are a seasoned musician. I give you a “Clap” for ignoring the space situation and using creative thinking to overcome the issue. That is determination! By todays standard a home setup is super advanced as to what…[Read more]

Hi sxpoet,,,,I read your post and wonder,,,,You must have a computer to use logic pro,,,and therefore you must have a work desk or station for your computer and speakers. I use a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface. It has a usb connection to the computer and the size is remarkable. I have it on my small desktop hooked to my computer. The…[Read more]

Mark,,,,,,,
go to google and search AUDACITY. It is a free but high quality DAW (digital audio workstation). I do all of my recordings in Audacity. The first thing I do when I download a tune from Johnny is put it in a backing track file. Then all I have to do is fire up Audacity and load my backing track. You can have it loop the whole song or…[Read more]

You are a fun guy to forum with. I appreciate your humor and comments also. Hell I am 77 and have been bothered with prostate issues for a long time. So far I am only on medicine to help shrink the damn thing.

I have used most of these embellishments over the years and believe it or not I did not know the names of them. I grew up playing the sax and trying to emulate my favorite sax players. I guess I just fell into it trying to play like the professional players of my time. I am 77 years old and still love the sax. When I was a young player I just…[Read more]
