Maybe you can help me then. I’m totally lost on the first part of that song… I’m counting and reading the notes, and I can’t see where we start with a triplet, an 1/8 rest, 7 8th notes, a 1/4 note etc… It doesn’t read like it sounds when I’m trying to follow Johnny… Or else I’m really confused… Once the lyrical portion starts, it sounds as if Johnny holds a note for the (I’ll) then plays the lyrics “be home for Christmas…” but the notes on the page doesn’t match. To me anyway. As the old saying goes, “I’m as lost as a goose…” Help me out! LOL!

Wasn’t knocking Dazza by any means! I have relatives that live up north and I mentioned George Jones once and my cousin said, “Who?” I laughed aloud. If you live in the south and someone doesn’t know George Jones, Ronnie Milsap, Keith Whitley, Conway Twitty and others… Its like the rest of the world meeting someone who doesn’t know Elvis… LOL!

I would LOVE the music for Lost in the Fifties… And I agree this would also be a great sax song… Wish Johnny would do a few country tunes… And Dazza, you haven’t heard of Ronnie Milsap… That tells me a lot about your age, and demographic lol! I grew up on Ronnie, but I’m 48, and southern by the grace of God 😉

Hey, I received my new Guardala FatBoy II a few days ago (It was at the post office sooner, I was out of town). I LOVE the new mouthpiece! I’ve only been playing 11 months now, but it is VERY easy to blow! Easier than my Yanagisawa #7 metal mouthpiece! I instantly noticed a more rattley/raspy sound! Whoever I tried to growl… Oh man it popped! I use a Vandoren Red #3 reed! I also have some Vandoren Green 3’s, and sone other reeds I will try. But I really like the Red 3 already!! Thanks Johnny for turning me on to this! I also found that the lower register was extremely easy to blow! As was the upper registry. Personally, I didn’t get ANY squeaks until I started changing reeds. Some of the other Vandoren reeds squeaked a little, and some didn’t. I only tried about 4 different types of reeds so far!

Michael, I am certainly interested in getting to meet you, even if I can’t go down to New Orleans. Can’t saying that I can’t, just don’t know yet the particulars of when you’re going or for how long. However, if you come through Delhi (Between Vicksburg and Monroe) we will definitely hook up and play together. I’m sure there’s something you could contribute to my playing, as I am way, way, away from being able to play in the streets of New Orleans!! By the way, my email is revlester77@gmail.com feel free to contact me on email.

Michael, I remember a post where you were getting together with a professor from University of Arkansas. How’s that going? Are you from Arkansas? I’m from North East Louisiana.
