Jak – I enjoyed the Getz song. Ammons played a Conn 10M early in his career before switching to a Mark VI. In the 50’s and 60’s he played a Brihart Ebolin Tenor Mouthpiece. Check it out. Amazing!

Jak – Ammons and Von Freeman were the founders of the Chicago School of Tenor Saxophone. When I heard this song I thought of Von Freeman. I like Ammons sound a lot. Lots of his music on Spotify.

Well it’s been a week now that I have been using the Neck strap from Boston Sax shop. I really like it a lot! No more strap across the chest. The neck strap easily adjusts the width to keep it on your shoulders. It took a couple days to get the the straps bent in the the right place. The straps have metal inside the padding. The neck strap just…[Read more]

I use metal hooks. I put a wrap of black electrical tape on it then I heat a small piece of black shrink tube over that. That still wears thru but I just repeat the process wear it wears down.

This is the strap I am currently using. It puts all the weight on the shoulders and no strain on the neck.

The reason I bought the one from the Boston Sax Shop is that the weight is also on the shoulders but there is no strap across the front of your body. That’s a nice strap Jeff. I am…[Read more]
