Here is a link to me playing Chameleon. This is a good tune for you guys who like using the blues/pentatonic scale. The original from Herbie Hancock can be jammed along with using concert B flat blues/pentatonic scales. So, C blues for B flat guys, and G blues for the E flat guys. Fun song to jam to!…[Read more]

You should share a pic of that beauty with us! A friend of mine had a Reference 54, that horn was flawless! He ended up selling it for a Mark VI, but if I had the money, I’d totally would have picked up the 54. Nice horn!

@brother-cavefish – I agree a slower version of this tune would be fantastic! Just listened to Ray Charles rendition of it, and it sounds phenomenal like that! I may have to look into making that a project.
@ridge – I will definitely keep that in mind next time I’m doing the mixing and mastering of the tracks. I appreciate the input!

Thanks for taking a listen, Mark!
I just looked up the Vibrolators on Youtube. I can see how that would make you want to play the sax! That bari player has a great sound for sure! The video of them playing at The Blues Club in Perth WA is great! Has a great section of him soloing.
It is a great instrument to learn. The beautiful part about…[Read more]

So I think this works. First picture is the Martin Bari, followed by the Conn 10m Naked Lady Tenor, the Conn Chu Berry Tenor, the Conn 6m Naked Lady Alto, and the Yamaha YSS-475 Soprano. Sorry for the error!

I guess it is a list, eh? There were supposed to be pics with it, but I guess that is what I get for using my smart phone! I’ll try it with my computer.

Below are my horns! I also have a C Melody Conn that needs full overhauled, once it is done I’ll show that as well!

I agree with you Simon! This membership is a great tool for all of us.
Just some advice on my end, as I sometimes have the issue of wanting to play fast, but end up making a sloppy sounding mess, is to go back to the basics, and sit down with a metronome. I have one for free from an app on my phone. I start very slow, and work on each note, and…[Read more]

I am actually glad it is set up in this manner. As much as I would love to just skip through to things like altissimo and improvisation, sometimes starting on the first page of the book is the way to go, no matter how good you are.
I have been playing for nearly 20 years now, and could skip through beginning topics, but I’m not going to. The r…[Read more]

Hello everyone!
My name is Louie, if the title of this didn’t give it away! 🙂 I have been playing the sax now for almost 20 years, and still have a lot of learning to do. I primarily play tenor and Bari sax, but also play my alto and soprano on occasion as well.
I am a fan of vintage horns. I love Conns! I play a Conn 10m tenor, a Conn Chu B…[Read more]
