Hi James, I found this quite confusing too. Until I realised that to go from Concert to Eb Alto
you have to raise the notes by nine and for the Bb Tenor sax you have to raise the notes by fourteen.
This is important when wanting to play exactly the same note as the keyboard. -

Hi James
There’s quite an echo there, are you playing in a hall?
I haven’t heard that tune before.

Jeff replied to the topic I am buying a new sax. Any advice on these five models? in the forum Show Us Your Sax 8 months, 2 weeks ago
I wold never describe a Yamaha Sax as fragile. Clearly this chap in the video is sponsored by some another manufacturer. If the Tenor 62 is anything like my Alto 62 it is a very solid build. Even my YAS-26 is very well made and it doesn’t even feature on most rankings. My YAS-62 has more powerful springs, requires more air, but the tone is really…[Read more]

This may be a little crazy, but I remember the keys as unique fingering. In other words Db is not C# but a separate note with similar fingering. Rembering the notes as seperate entities works for me as I don’t have the necessary processing speed to convert adhoc – LOL – much too many days spent under the sun. Got to keep the processing to a…[Read more]

Jeff replied to the topic how to break in a reed in the forum Reeds 9 months, 2 weeks ago
One tip I can give is to never put the ligature on the way they show in these pictures. I turn it around 180° so the clamp and screws are at the top. I’ve found that way the ligature clamp part slides more easily over the MP and you get a tighter grip and better seal on the reed. Before I turned it around I noticed long grip marks on the reeds…[Read more]

‘G’ Thanks James
Just what I was looking for to get me Altissimo G working and a few different options to try to.
When you are trying something new, we have to find that narrow ledge we can cling to, until we get stronger at climbing the altissimo cliff. -

Hi James, it looks quite comprehensive. One thing that helps the viewer when putting in a link.
Check the box which says, ‘Open link in a new tab’ then the viewer does not lose their place in the discussion.Beverly wanted to know where the box was for ability to grow broad beans – lol.
