I’ll use my Motown music book. Not as good as Johnny’s sheet music and background music but it’s a start.

Working on My Girl
I could use a full mix while practicing “My Girl”. I would buy it again if Johnny had the flu mix.

Hi John
Talking with Michael Bishop some time in the past I bought an Enlightened Ligature from Theo Wanne for the guardala mpcs.

Ya John
The lig is attached to the mouthpiece but The Rovner or Winslow holds the reed better in place, The stock ligature on the Durga seemed to always turn a bit. I did move the stock lig up to the front. Seemed to work better up front but the Rovner or Winslow worked best for me. So I removed the stock lig and replaced it with the winslow

I’v been blowing my Guardala Fatboy. Today I/m blowing my Theo Wanne Durga 5. I took the ligature that comes with the durga and put on a Winslow ligature. Blows a lot better with the Winslow or even with a Rovner. So it’s the Winslow. Blowing “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers” by Neil Diamond and Barbara Streisand. Background music is in the key of C…[Read more]

Johnny
Did you ever do a backing track and sheet music for “Pretty Woman”?

I’m also practicing with Tony Orlando’s backing track My backing track MUSIC is in A major. The last verse of “He don’t love you like I love you” goes up half step. So I lowered the backing track to G and G#. So my tenor sax plays A and Bb and the backing track plays G and G#. I’m tone deaf so mathematically I think I have it correct. The backing…[Read more]

Johnny named that tune: “He don’t Love You, Like I Love You” according to Tony Orlando and Dawn.Bill Medley named the tune “He Will Break Your Heart”; same tune, same notes, same melody. I’ll record it on GarageBand and If I do it justice I’ll post it.

I’ve been practicing a tune written by Jerry Butler, recorded in the 60’s by Bill Medley under one name, and by Tony Orlando and Dawn using another name. Same song by different names. I have a backing track I might use. I like Bill Medley’s version of this Jerry Butler tune. I might record it. Soooooo. your job is: NAME THAT TUNE

Often when I use Side D on the tenor sax the horn tends to turn a bit to the right making it hard to use Side D

So today I blew my Michael Brecker I mouthpiece. So I have three of the best mouthpieces. Michael Brecker I. Michael Brecker II fatboy, and the King. My reed is the fiber Onyx. Starting off with the soft Onyx. Eating on standby for later is the medium soft onyx, and copper. The Guardala mouthpieces are the best

I’m with Johnny and sxpoet. The Durga will take back seat. This morning I put my Guardala fat boy on my sax with a soft onyx reed and I blew and blew. Guardala is King

Ya, I do like my Durga. I might like my FatBoy a bit more and also the King.High baffle mouth pieces I find harder to play. On my Durga I moved the ligature forward to the first holes. Easier to control the sound. I was told some time ago by the Theo Wanne reps that the last ligature holes were put on the Theo Wanne mouth pieces for Dexter…[Read more]
