Hey Nick, You didn’t like yours either, huh? I bought a Fatboy M2 like yours and didn’t like it either. Sold it for a big loss. I made the mistake thinking I’d sound like Johnny if I played it but I really knew better. It’s perfectly suited for Johnny with his ballsy, rough style but not for me. I sounded pretty good on certain songs but for…[Read more]

The one I needed involved bass, drums, & guitar. That’s about it. Less than 3 minutes in duration. Cost was $105.00 US dollars. If they do this all the time I would think they have their own recording stuff and would not have to rent a recording studio.

I use Karaoke-version.com for a lot of songs. Unless you want a custom arrangement they are fine………….and cheap. They even allow you to change the key up or down a few steps.

OK, Michael, I’ll check these guys out. I had one made a few years ago but can’t remember who made it. I think the guy has quit doing it now though. I’ll let you know how it turns out. Thanks for the info.

https://youtu.be/vMpd3TcetBo This was my second attempt at home recording. It’s an old Kenny Rogers song “Through the Years”. I played on a Mark VI with a 10mfan Robusto 7* mouthpiece and Vandoren ZZ reed. FYI…The old speaker on the wall behind me is one that I brought home from Vietnam in 1969. Still sounds great.

Hi Pete, I just downloaded it from Karaoke Version.com or YouTube. Karaoke Version let’s you change the key up or down about 2 1/2 steps either way. I use them a lot. Usually if I need music I get it from Musicnotes.com. Some times they will transpose 7 different keys for you. Hope this helps. Dan

https://youtu.be/1qvsZlu154U This is a slide show I recorded my sax to. Dusty Springfield’s “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me” Sax is Mark VI with Ponzol SS 110 mouthpiece with Rigotti reed. Recording yourself playing reveals all your faults: breathing, phrasing, cutting notes short, etc. Great tool to have although I’m just starting to…[Read more]

David, I have ofter wondered why we continue to buy new stuf when the old stuff still works fine. Then we get the new stuff and are disappointed. Then in order to get rid of it we loose our butts. At least that’s the way it is with me. Pays to be able to try new stuff out so we don’t do that again. We’ll never learn. I mean I won’t.
