i found some reeds were not too consistent in their behaviour, ie when i played through all 12 major scales, some reeds started to get slightly worse, that’s why my pdf questions were narrowed down to identifying a reed that always behaved the same, if not’s behaving the same all the time in a test, then you can’t rely on it to behave the same all…[Read more]

Thanks Leo, after trying out different reeds, i was trying to narrow it down as to the noticeable differences between all the reeds, and a comment column thinking which type of song it was better suited to, if i needed a different strength, or if not to buy that type of reed again.
Also, i wanted a pdf to look back on later on, to remind me how…[Read more]

very true
i bought a new mouthpiece recently, as i don’t know what reed and reed strength works with it, i bought 14 different reeds of the strength i normally play on my other mouthpiece.
And i was staggered to hear the difference in all the reeds, some suited to jazz, some suited to classical, and some suited for different styles of tunes. Not…[Read more]

Thanks Mel,
it’s supposed to be a blank sheet that i can fill in when i retest 11 different reeds on my mouthpiece, to find which one works best with the ‘Michelle’ backing track.but i also need to have a log of how each read behaves when i play through 12 Major Scales.
All the reeds are brand new, straight out the box, and with no tampering…[Read more]

EFT (electronic fund transfer) is used to move money from one account to another. The transaction is completed electronically, and the two accounts can be at the same financial institution or different financial institutions.
ETF (exchange-traded funds) are exactly as the name implies: funds that trade on exchanges, generally tracking a specific…[Read more]

i used a gmail account awhile back, and got rid of it – as i was fed up with the sheer amount of googles privacy options i had to set off and on, for an e-mail address.

i’ve been playing Johnny’s Michelle on the Clarinet using a plasticover 3.5 reed and it sounds perfect.
That’s the tone i’m looking for on the Alto, so now, out of all D’addario and Vandoren reeds i’ve tested, i need to pick one that gets me the closest sound i want. It could be a slightly buzzy jazz tone or a deep mellow classical tone.…[Read more]

Day One – The Traditional Reed (3) – I found this reed slightly hard going, but it gives a strong solid classical deep tone, slow responding, and slightly breathy. Suitable for slow tempos not lively tempos.
(Designed to produce a quality of extremely pure sound.)Day Two – The Java Green Reed (3.5) – This Unfiled reed i found more suited to…[Read more]

which do you find easier to learn
playing a new scale from memory?
or
playing a new Melody from memory?
What i find harder is the number of different scales that i can remember how to play from memory. At the moment all i can remember is how to play all 12 Major scales, i would struggle to recall all three types of Minor scales (next on the…[Read more]

am i saying, “if you can’t write a melody, then stick to playing Jazz or playing the Drums”
am i saying “Are different styles of music just defined by a specific drum pattern?”
am i saying “If you want to invent a new style of music, then you have to invent a new drum pattern no ones heard of”
am i saying “just make sure you sound great on…[Read more]
