sxpoet replied to the topic Michelle – i recorded on Bb Clarinet in the forum Your Video 9 months, 1 week ago
I bought the clarinet off my daughter, with the view that she can have it back later on if she decides to pick it up again, i had to have it serviced as one of the pads had worn out and the four corks on it needed shaving down, and i had to buy a better ligature for it.
The annoying thing is when i started playing, i couldn’t put it down…[Read more]

very nice!
on my to do list – is to record clarinet and alto with a backing track. i’m ready to record the clarinet, but the alto, i’m waiting on a new ligature to arrive. I’d love to add guitar and midi keyboard at a later stage. -

no, i’ve got it wrong, the reflection of light on the ligature in the above photo graph makes the ligature look slightly raised above the reed, so in fact it can be turned around 180 degrees.
There are some ligatures metal and rubber with a side designed to fit above the reed, but most of them have the screws on the opposite side of the reed.…[Read more]

it all depends on the design of the ligature, some are designed like mine where you can have screws above the reed or on the opposite side, personal choice prevails.
The one in the photo graph above is only designed to have the screws above the reed, if you look closely, the ligature is bent slightly raised for the reed to slide under. in fact…[Read more]

Leo the only other site i’ve tried is cafesax, but it’s just full of comedians, making comical remarks every time someone posts anything – more like a facebook site, so i don’t go on it. The down side it doesn’t provide backing tracks of any use to me and it’s more geared to classical music and sleepy jazz.

Well played! good clear tone.
i’ve got a long way to go, to be able to play the range of different songs you cover.
i’m barely starting out with easier tunes like Michelle. Just about playing it better in time with the beat. - Load More
