Here’s my two cents. When I purchased some reeds on the internet they through in a box of plastiCOVER reeds for free. They made my sax sound cheap, kind of like a toy. That turned me against them, I had a 10% off coupon so I purchased a Bari reed, it’s some kind of plastic, I thought that was horrible,(I want my money back!!) made my sax sound very, very dark. I also purchased a FIBRACELL which is a man made material, this one I love, it sounds great with my Berg, I would never have believed it. It’s so easy to play, not having to soak reeds and the thing won’t die, I think it was in the $10 range for one but it I’m still using it after about a month.
May 17, 2015 at 6:33 pm #20086I was thinking it was embouchure not used to a wider mouthpiece. I think I just have to get used to it. I do like the ligature that came with the Berg. I like the sound I get overall but I know there’s a better setup for me. I’m just working my way up little by little.
May 17, 2015 at 5:08 am #20029The mouthpiece came with a traditional looking metal ligature that fits the MP well. The sides of the reed don’t touch the ligature. I purchased a Rovner Light that suppose to maintain the lighter sound but it makes it sound darker so I went back to the Berg ligature. I also have a Fortissimo that has three different supports, I get a good sound with that but I’m tired of messing with it all the time I’m using it, it always seems like the reed is loose, it moves around no matter how hard I clamp it down.
May 17, 2015 at 4:54 am #20028I got a 95/0 metal. Now I have that edgy sound but I feel like I’m starting all over again. I had a Selmer HR S80 C*. I think that had a 75 tip opening. I’m glad I didn’t go for a larger tip opening than 95. I’m having trouble getting the lows and I’m squeking a lot around high G. I’ll just keep working at it.

I’m playing a 73 now, if I jump to a 100 is that too much a leap or doesn’t it matter that much?March 24, 2015 at 10:20 am #13858Johnny, I spoke too soon. I did do the download but all I got was a 3 page .pdf. I went to my puchase history and clicked on the product and it sent me to the lesson with videos, etc. Now I can’t seem to access that any more. It tells me something like I’ve reached my number of downloads. What am I doing wrong?
frankMarch 24, 2015 at 9:58 am #13855Johnny,
I tried it again just a few minutes ago and everything worked OK. Oh, yeah, I ordered the, “…Daily Practice Routine”. Yesterday it showed in my “Cart” but when I went to pay for it I clicked the “Purchase” button and nothing happened. Beats me, I haven’t even re-booted my computer since then. Sorry for the “Heads up” for nothing.
Thanks,
frankMarch 23, 2015 at 3:56 pm #13842Well, I clicked on the, “Add To Cart” button and then went to, “Check Out” and saw my order there but when I went complete the order I don’t think anything happened. I checked email for a confirmation but nothing came through so I save my Cart to try it again but its not in mt cart anymore…I don’t get it!
March 23, 2015 at 3:43 pm #13841Never mind, I got it figured out, thanks.
