I have a link tone edge, they are easy to play but you’ll be limited a bit on your sound so eventually you’ll want to move to another mp if you’re going for an edgier blues/rock sound.
I switched to Fiberreed several years ago and only use them now, mostly the Onyx and the Copper. Nothing like a perfect cane reed but their short life, drying out,…[Read more] -

oh ya….I played one during my first few early years way before I discovered Guardala. I believe mine was an 8 or 9*
That along with a Berg were my entry to the metal mp’s.
It’s been too many years since I played it so I couldn’t really tell you how it felt except that Dave Guardala made better ones since I still use his and dropped those other…[Read more] -

john replied to the topic Keep my fingers close to the keys–any tips? in the forum Saxophone Tips 2 years, 5 months ago
my teacher used to hold his hand about an inch away from my fingers and the exercise was that I would play but try not to let my fingers touch his hand. maybe you have a family member around that could do that?

Hey sx these are just spammers which I delete right away so don’t even bother to let out your frustrations at em….they’re also probably just bots doing the posting. I have the tech adding a Capcha to the registration page so that will reduce the whole spamming thing.

Lee Allen did do this solo….the band is just lip-syncing to the actual track so those sax players (and rest of band) are only pretending to play….look and listen again and you’ll notice there aren’t any sax parts in this entire tune, only the solo but the sax section is pretending to play throughout the entire song!

john replied to the topic Henry Hartmann’s Fiberreed — these are excellent, thx Johnny in the forum Reeds 2 years, 6 months ago
I did a live gig last week and took a cane reed just to have in case my fiberreeds chipped. I ended up using the Vandoren cane and it worked great. so I left it on my sax all this week and it started to remind me of all the hassles it gave me; drying out, squeaking etc. today I finally put an Onyx back on and it feels great. all-round just a…[Read more]

john replied to the topic 'Maneater' Saxophone Solo-The Effects? in the forum Share a Video 2 years, 7 months ago
that’s echo. very typical and common effect which is set with the song tempo in this case.
you can hear it repeat the lick and is perfectly timed with the beat. This is a wide, meaning it has a lot of space between the originally played lick and the actual echo repeat of it. As compared with a more “slap’ echo which repeats instantly with no space…[Read more] - Load More
