You can play a backing track on anything you normally play any type of mp3 file;
iTunes, or any other media player. you can also upload to your iPhone and play it thru a bluetooth speaker or anything like that.
I normally play my backing tracks through my computer or studio monitors. -

interesting…Harry Hartmann put the Copper reed together after working with a contemporary classical saxophonist (Randal Hall) and making some prototypes for his preferences. In the end he loved it and so the Copper reed was born.
Now it has become one of my favorites as well and I’m no way a classical player nor do I go for that type of…[Read more] -

I don’t mess too much with filing reeds etc, especially synthetics!
Synthetics are supposed to be pretty much perfect…unlike most canes.
the reason for filing cane is that it’s a natural material so will have deficiencies etc so we can make them perfect (or almost) by filing.
When trying a new synthetic get 2; one that is very close to your cane…[Read more] -

wow, sorry to hear that JB…never heard anyone say that nothing worked on this reed and all good on this reed. The worst reed I ever played was the Legere synthetic and I hated it but I could still play everything I can play on a cane…just didn’t feel as good.

Wonderful Mike! ya, timing, phrasing, articulation…we all approach it differently, that’s the beauty of it (self expression).
You’re obviously not relying on the actual transcription and that’s the goal. Once we actually learn the basic melody then it’s play-fun time. That’s why I always prefer a basic easy skeleton chart; easier to “fill in…[Read more]

Great JB, let us know how it works for you. The copper has become one of my favorites now.
I can’t remember ever playing a D’Addario but I know many like them.
your Copper price was a little higher than here in N America but maybe you paid less in shipping so…. -

There is a drum beat pattern to practice with in the Premium section under
“Theory” where the music reading lessons are….although you don’;t need to be able to play a drum beat every musician should be able to listen to one and follow along. Knowing of course where in the bar you are within the beat. Check it out, there is a video there…[Read more] -

yup your sound is cutting thru nicely.
You can probably do a comparison with something you uploaded years ago when we had the uploads on the blog section.
I notice a slight improvement in your intonation as well….but that is something we all can work on! -

Sounds like a great deal if you’re liking it.
I did have an MBII but sold it, it just didn’t compare with the MBI or even my Fatboy.
My Guardala King has a step baffle too and is not as bright as my MBI…even tho they say the King is suppose to be brighter, go figure.
would love to see a photo of it! - Load More
