hey guys I emailed this as well cause I just found out about it. It’s an interview I did some years back for Sax On The Web. It was taken down by the new owners, among other things that weren’t making them money.
Well some other guys got it back up so I’m able to share it with you…[Read more] -

very nice sound Mike.
ya I used to have a soprano which I sold many years ago….it is a beast for intonation, takes a lot of practice.
so incorporating one into an already busy schedule is very difficult. My sax teacher told me when I was still in high school;
practice as much as you can now because you’ll never have this much time to do it later…[Read more] -

yes I will do that for you, just send me a message for the song(s) you download and need the concert part for.
I don’t do it as the rule because I’ve only ever had 2 or 3 requests for that in about 10 years. -

john replied to the topic Tenor Pink Panther scoop down on C natural in the forum Repertoire 3 years, 10 months ago
I scooped into the c slightly but did not scoop or fall down from it. Just hit the B normally. Cause a few notes later you have a really big important fall off on the F# so you don’t want to over do these embellishments.
as for the second part of your question, I don’t think I would do it that way.
I prefer to use the scoop as more of a feature…[Read more] -
john replied to the topic Drift Away – Bari and Tenor in the forum Recording Your Saxophone 3 years, 10 months ago
many years ago I did have a bari kickin around which I never owned, it was either loaned or rented as I needed one so I didn’t get too deep into it but I remember shopping for a mp and the one I chose from a handful the store had was a Bari brand. It was plastic and cost about 30 bucks!
the salesman laid out a few really nice top end ones then at…[Read more] -

right, that’s one of THE most common misconceptions and one of the most common questions you hear.
The secret isn’t in the finger positions nearly as much as the specific techniques needed.
That’s why when going thru a real system / course on the subject the fingering part doesn’t even get introduced until about 75% of the way through. -
john replied to the topic buying tune in the forum General Questions 3 years, 10 months ago
I think the sax is about right….it’s those vocals tho, way too loud. I don’t like vocals too much in a backing track, and when they’re louder than everything else it’s even worse to take the attention away.

Hey Pete, let me know the tunes you had and roughly the time period they were purchased.

john replied to the topic buying tune in the forum General Questions 3 years, 10 months ago
ok I’ll bring it up with the tech but that lower link for older purchases does not always bring something up. it’s dependent on several things of which I’m not sure about, so some get lucky with it others don’t and the tech can’t make it work 100% because of that.
