Hey Bill, nicely done. Lots of good stuff there…way to get those low notes which can be tough.
try playing those grace notes at the start of the chorus waaaayyy shorter. -

ya I thought of that; to convert from 4/4 tp 6/8 within the software but it can’t be done….at least with what I am using and what I can see.

I prefer common time (4/4) over compound time (6/8, 12/8). whenever I arrange a tune that has that compound time feel I look at it very closely to see if it makes sense in 4/4 because it’s easier to read for me and most others.
Sometimes it doesn’t make sense cause there will be nothing but triplets but other times it works well in 4/4. -
john replied to the topic Question about the Forums in the forum General Questions 3 years, 6 months ago
yes I hear that and makes some sense but as you said, there’s just not that many different ones coming in and I’d have to spend money to make that happen. Which I would if I thought it was really needed.

Hey Jeff, your reading/playing very well. Timing is good most of the “time”
If you listen closely you’ll hear some inconsistency in the tone. It’s not solid and wavers slightly at times.
What can you do to improve this? Good question!
It must go back to the basic long tones. You need to strenghen your tone and so playing long notes with full air…[Read more] -
john replied to the topic testing a stellar x2 vintage mic in the forum Recording Your Saxophone 3 years, 6 months ago
good idea. well of course the mic quality won’t help with timing but you can use some kind of metronome/click track.
duets are fun and great for improving all sorts of things like timing and tuning….will be very benificial for you if you spend some good time on it! -

I reached out the the guy from the video (MexSax) and he said that he didn’t make the music scrolling part but it is done within Band In a Box software. I don’t really want to get into that program but if anyone out there has it let me know if they’ve ever tried that with it.

ya that’s a good idea Pete. but would involve some time which right now I’m using to create the songs! maybe in the near future….there is a lot of work that goes into this stuff and I wouldn’t mind sharing especially if a lot of people found it helpfyul or even interesting.

well guys. I’m sorry but it’s the middle of the day here and I thought I might be finished this new tune but am only now taking a break as there is much more to do before I can edit my video and get all the files ready to upload. Will finish up later tonight and get it to you early tomorrow (Saturday).

Hey Christian, ya that’s a popular one but no I couldn’t keep up with the many requests I get emailed every week.
I am working thru a long pre-planned list with my band in the studio every month so locked in for a while as far as a.song list goes.
we’re doing one a week now and it’s pretty tough to keep up that pace. -
john replied to the topic Me& Mrs Jones. in the forum Repertoire 3 years, 7 months ago
ya Pete it’s a great tune. Just been working on it a lot….for some reason it’s harder than most I’ve done in recent memory. The melody changes a lot. Still learning it and gotta get it out by tomorrow!…hopefully later in the day.
