“Killing Me Softly”
Saxophone Music and Backing Track
(Originally recorded in 1973 by Roberta Flack)
Johnny’s sax instrumental video:
Killing Me Softly Saxophone Music
A classic song with a melody that’s beautiful and expressive and so very well suited for the saxophone! Another one of those classic songs and melodies that’s known as a cross-over hit because it fits several genres of music. It has a great and unique and feel that’s popular, soulful, bluesy, slow R&B. It’s also a lot of fun to play!
There have been several artists covering this song over the years but this Killing me Softly Backing Track was inspired by the original version as recorded by Roberta Flack and her amazing musicians she had on the session.
The line-up of studio musicians for Roberta Flack’s original recording session featured bass jazz great Ron Carter who was once a member of Miles Davis’ band, Ralph McDonald, a well-known percussionist, Eric Gale on guitar and Deodato arranging the strings and conducting to name a few.
The song has an underlying almost reggae or Jamaican feel which made it very unique for the artist and the time it was recorded.
