July 28, 2015 at 12:50 pm #23364Oh wow, thanks JB 🙂 Actually, with all of your experience in tuning/the good ears you have, I wish you we’re here! We all have things that stand out in our own playing and also have things that we need to work on..great benefit of the blog because it helps us to see those things that need attention. Just think–if I hadn’t of uploaded the Blues tune, I may never even have realized what went wrong, then one bad thing leads to another. It’s a great learning tool, so use it and we’ll get better because of it…we’re not trying to “impress” anyone, we’re trying to learn from Johnny and everyone else.
If I actually (in the rare event) do get picked to play at River Fest, I would not hesitate to fly a member I know here on Johnny’s site to be out here with me and film every bit of it…just to have someone here from Johnny’s site with me for such a huge event would be way cool, to be here in person and film it, etc.. The audition is in December and the decision is made by like mid April if I remember correctly, but the annual River Fest is held here on Memorial Day weekend. In all honesty, the likelihood of getting selected to play is not very good and probably won’t happen, but I didn’t accept the invitation with the expectation of getting picked…there’s just too many talented people to think/expect you’re going to get picked. I accepted the invitation as a learning curve and also be able to meet other players so I can start getting more involved in my local scene. There’s a group here called the “Arkansas Blues Society” and I’m looking to get involved with them after we finish the move into our new house. Ironically, there’s very few Sax players (I only know of 1 Sax player) involved with the Blues Society here…I was pretty shocked to find that out! I put a link to their website and the River Fest that was held here this past year.

We have something overhere called splendour – for a lot of new bands

which, is also where batman was filmed!
But seriously – seize the oportunity to play next to a sax player in person – when you both play the same song together, both sax sounds merge into one sound, the minute one of you hit a wrong note it turns sour. I thinks its to do with instruments timbre, less noticeable if you play along with a guitar
