😎 Hey Johnny,
I think a “cool” problem us Members have is that we just can’t seem to get enough of your Sax playing, and that’s me included 🙂 Was curious if you we’re planning on releasing new Sax backing tracks/sheet music in time to come. I was looking forward to seeing “I was Made to Love Her” in the style of King Curtis…..I’m not going to mention Harlem Nocturne because, looking at the blog, there’s been enough discussion about that already–but it’s a no-brainer that I’m really looking forward to it in time LOL
I had also thought about how killing of a version I think you could do of King Curtis’ take of “I heard it through the Grapevine” I don’t know of anyone who can capture the “essence” of his playing like you can:
October 21, 2014 at 2:28 pm #12826Thanks Michael, funnily enough haha, I was just taking a break from working out the final touches of I Was Made To Love Her so am happy to say I will have it complete and ready online either later today or tomorrow at latest.
Ya, I love grapevine as well but next up I will get onto Nocturn followed by some more Christmas songs cause before you know it it’s November and people need time to practise these for Christmas time.October 21, 2014 at 3:35 pm #12827Awesome Johnny, really been looking forward to I was Made to Love Her. I love 1950s rock and all on the Saxophone, no doubt about that–but for me personally, old-school R&B is my absolute favorite-style of Saxophone Music, especially on the Tenor–songs like the ones you have here from Bill Withers, what you’re getting ready to release, King Curtis I heard it through the Grape Vine, etc.. I actually found some decent tracks on Karaoke (unbelievable to say the least) for some fantastic Old-School R&B stuff— “Love Train” by the O’Jays, “Disco Inferno” by the Trammps, “Love Never Felt So Good” as done by Michael Jackson, “Misty Blue” by Dorothy Moore, etc.. Blends itself so well to the Saxophone! I remember reading some time ago somewhere, that as time goes along and as a student progresses in his playing, that he/she would start to find their “personality” of sorts on the Saxophone….I kind of feel like that’s starting to happen, but still got a long, long way to go LOL
I have your holiday music from last year and I’m supposed to be back home then, if I can’t get around to learning what you release this year then I’ll look at trying to get around to what you released last year—it’s still your music! 🙂 -
