đ Hi Johnny,
Thanks SOOOOO much for “I was Made to Love Her” and “Harlem Nocturne”….I’ll be getting them both on Friday. I think it’s so cool how you played Harlem Nocturne in a different key Signature; while at the same time maintaining a feel throughout the song of the Viscount’s version, that was super cool for sure. On a personal note, now comes the hard part for me…..waiting to get back home so I can start learning these on the Tenor LOL I think they would sound great on the Alto too, but my taste for these kinds of terrific songs is the Tenor. Those songs in particular were fantastic back in the day of their release, they’re fantastic today and will be 50-100 years from now; they’ve both withstood the test of time as great songs and great artists do. Thanks for listening to us student players and members and releasing these songs!October 29, 2014 at 8:13 pm #12888Agree!….jumping onto to HN this weekend. Love your version Johnny. Only wish you’d pull out that RAW alto again and upload a version to the blog on alto. Any chance??
October 29, 2014 at 9:23 pm #12889I hate the alto I have here at the moment. I don’t know when I’ll get a chance to grab that Trevor James again so we’ll see.
Thanks anyway, have fun with the new tune…I did!October 31, 2014 at 11:22 am #12901Anonymouswow – “i was made to love her” just been listening to Johnny’s version.
Roll over Curtis Johnny’s on the scene! We have lift off! trip the light fantastique.
I feel like the jet engine has maxed up volume and we’re thundering down the runway…. you know that feeling when you’ve just left the ground…“Harlem Nocturne” – i see a goddess waking up on the sea bed and piroutting up to the surface and then in a blaze of glory collapses near the surface ( 4th line 2nd bar ) and falls gracefully back to the bottom!
Like the phoenix she bursts back into life and once again rises and the whole cycle repeats itself – wonderful piece! Can’t wait to try these 2 out…
cheers Johnny
