      This is a test recording using a stripped down Akgc1000s microphone, just improvising on the sax across a range of keys from low C to altissimo C – in pursuit of a better recording using two mikes (because i didn’t have the backing track loaded into my recorder, i used the 2nd microphone to record the backing track off a speaker – not recommended recording off a speaker).

      1st mike Akgc1000s striped down – between 2 to 3 feet away from the alto sax bell
      2nd mike Akgc519M placed one inch from the backing track speaker, with the speaker on low placed 3 feet behind me
      using – Tascam 8 trk digital recorder, track 1 – 1st mike, track 2 – 2nd mike – with slight reverb on mike 1, with equalisation, compression and normalization before creating the master track
      playing – Alto sax yamaha 480 (intermediate sax, not a pro sax – can’t afford one)
      using – Gauardala King Mouthpiece
      using – unfiled jazz select D’adario reed (a week old reed, not properly broken in, but treated to improve response)
      using – a rovner Versa ligature (modified by stripping out the metal parts, cutting away most of the leather surround for clearer sound vibrations)
      using – a combined metal plate and synthetic reed plate placed on top of the reed
      using – a mic mechanic 2 between the 1st mike and the digital recorder – with slight reverb on the hall setting

          Thanks William.

          They are great mouthpieces, they are so much easier to do a wide range of stuff.

          being a novice player, i’ve only just memorised all 12 major ionian chords, just got to memorise the 12 major dominant chords (mixolydian) and then the 12 minor chords (dorian) in the next few months as well as practicing all 12 major scales every day in all registers…
