Hey Johnny your major improvisation course came at the right time –
next month i play ‘Sax Appliance’
      in a big band

      at 3:42 there is 8 bars (G F F G G F F G)
which us repeated 5 times by sax soloists
      – so i can use what you taught us in lessons 1 & 2.

that’s a one to a flat seven chord progression (G to F) chord progression so no. a flat 7 is not part of the G major scale (G has an F# and the flat 7 is F natural)I would use a pentatoinic major scale (G A B D E) also a G major scale but with an F natural.

Yeah – the alto sax sheet is in G major, i showed it to my
sax teacher this morning, and he said exactly the same thing
              you’ve just said!!

But its great that your lesson 1 & 2 has given me the heads up,
as to what to do in playing round with a chord!

What made me laugh was my teacher said, if i get the opportunity
to play the solo improvisation parts , the rest of the sax players
will look up to me!!! I think thats a long way off yet – got a long
way to go before i do solo improvising in public.

              cheers
