đ Hey Johnny,
Hope you’re having a great day. I was looking over the sheet music for “What Does It Take” and watching you play it on video–gonna start learning this great song on Tenor when I get back home–at the end of the first bar/third measure, it shows on the sheet music there’s a high D that ties over to a high F#, which is at the beginning of the 2nd bar. What I’m hearing and seeing played on video is simply a high D that’s carried all the way through. I don’t see you fingering a high F#. Watch the timer of your video at 0:09.
“I Was Made to Love Her”…it’s going to be an Altissimo G “workout” LOL but great for tone improvement đNovember 29, 2014 at 12:04 pm #13141Oh shoot, that;’s a printout error in the sheet music. that D is not suppose to tie to an F#, the F# (just hold the D) is a mistake in the music program that I overlooked. Thanks Michael, I’ll have to fix it and re-upload.
JohnnyNovember 29, 2014 at 1:02 pm #13142LOL these cpu’s have a mind of their own at times. I started learning “Harlem Nocturne” because I realized that even though I don’t have my Tenor with me I can still learn it, just gotta use the backing track for Tenor and “Abracadabra” good to go! This is the kind of stuff they LOVE out here, along with “Tequila” “Samba Pa Ti” etc.
Speaking of your backing tracks, I was invited to a party in Albuquerque yesterday and at the “insistence” of my sister/bro-in-law I played some of your songs in front of about 50 people–pretty sure I turned one person in particular on to your website. He’s been trying to learn to play Saxophone but got kind of discouraged because out here, at least in this part of NM, good instructors are few and far in-between. He said he was taking lessons locally from someone at a music shop but they didn’t have a lot of patience with him and it was $50 for 30 minutes of instruction! (OUCH that hurts!)I invited him to try my Alto and he has stage freight right now. We’re meeting Monday afternoon and I’m going to show him on the cpu. how your website works. he wants a couple of your songs so you might see some new purchases Monday afternoon. (If I’m in a good mood, I might just buy them for him! LOL)November 29, 2014 at 1:37 pm #13143Thanks Michael, I’ve just fixed the error on that first page of What Does It Take. If anyone that downloaded it already you can easily fix it by changing the last note of page 1 – for alto’s it’s an A which is tied to an A on the 2nd line, before it was tied to a C which is just stupid!
For tenors it’s a D tied to a D, before it was a D tied to an F#.
You can fix with whiteout like I did or if you’d rather I can email you the fixed copy.November 30, 2014 at 5:50 am #13144AnonymousI haven’t bought this one yet, a bit too out of my range of playing, but will be on my list when my playing improves.
