just come back from watching some students playing various instruments – sax players, clarinet players & trumpeters.
all the musicians played their pieces perfectly, in terms of technique etc.. (definitely better players than me, and been playing for more than 5 years)
clarinets sounded ok, trumpeters pitch perfect, sax’s sounded awful (sorry)
the sax’s played their pieces correctly, they sounded like they had tuned up their sax’s but in tune, their setups still sounded awful. The trumpet player notes sounded perfect, so i know theres nothing wrong with my hearing.
It’s so annoying when i hear like that, its the equivalent of dragging nails down a black board!
