Good one Leo, are you still liking your Yamaha it sounds well.
Love the Yamaha, (yts62) I hear a lot that the tools don’t matter as much as the player, but i think they matter a great deal, i have
several different models from student to pro, and the pro is much easier to play upper and lower keys, young students might get discouraged
with their student models (harder to play) you wonder if parents should try renting a pro model for their kids so they excell sooner and keep
playing. The more new saxophone enthusiasts the better.
Hi Leo, very nicely played. One of my favourite tunes.
I must say my YAS62 sounds much better than the YAS26, but the YAS26 is easier to play.
There is much to be appreciated about the Pro saxes, but the problem is the much higher price.
Jeff, I have two altos, a selmer 500 and a elude, I find my tenors easier to play
strangely the altos seemed to require more air than the tenors have no idea why
You are correct about the cost, but i wasted a lot of money on student models and intermediates
which when added together would have paid for a good pro sax. Live and learn
Hi Leo, I also have a 2nd hand YTS-62 which is an older model. I took it out today to try my tune I’ve been working on for about three weeks. Trying to capture the tune from an MP3 with the correct notation was very difficult, but I eventually finished. Perhaps you would like to try it (recent No. 13 Post). It does sound good and the challenging part will be to make it sound just like Ben’s rendition. If I can do a half-decent performance I’ll post it here. The good thing about saxes is they tend to keep their value my YAS-26 has gone from R18000 to R32000 new. Buying gear is expensive I’ve already collected a drawer full of MP’s whilst looking for the ideal dark tone I wanted.
Hats off, Leo. Sweeeet. 🙂
Thanks Mark glad you liked it……….Loved playing it.
