I’ve seen elsewhere on this site where Johnny had recommended the Selmer S-80 C* MP for beginners & another video on Ligatures. Although I’m not truly a beginner…just getting reacquainted with my Martin Alto (see my Intro).

So I purchased the Selmer MP and a Rovner Versa Ligature. And all I can say is…WOW…what a difference these made on an old horn like mine. The tone is so much better and it’s actually easier to play. I had to see if this was my sax…I mean it was like night and day. I guess the old #4 Bundy MP and brass ligature were okay for a teenager playing in the school band way back when. If only I knew then what I’m learning now. Thanks Johnny!

        Hi Ken ,
i damaged my main mouthpiece (a Selmar Solo size D) recently and had to fall back on my old mouthpiece a Selmar C**.

The Selmar C** is a great sounding mouthpiece (i’m playing one in my latest upload in the members video section). My recording setup doesn’t do it justice, also a bit wary of uploading as some members think i just play on the blogg to impress (i wish i was that good a player – my playing sucks)

Either way the selmar C** is great for classical stuff, a bit harder for doing altissimo stuff, which is why i need to get back to a size higher up.

Almost tempted to get this mouthpiece

don’t know if anyone else has one, be interested to hear from them!
