Lucille was one of Little Richards big hits from the 50’s, of which he had many. His songs and style influenced many other well-known musicians such as The Beatles, Buddy Holly and Elvis Presley.

Backing tracks and sheet music are from “How to play saxophone” Johnny Ferreira .

Great tune nicely played, Leo, being with good embellishments and lovely flutter tounge, statacco and legato etc .. i love it! Nonethetheless the recording is a bit thin and doesn’t carry that big band sound and i reckon it is you getting used to the new bluetooth amp albeit with little echo or reverb. Love the light show all the while. I think you can do better! and much better than me incidentally. Howz about we hear another take, that is if you would be ever so kind, please mate? 🙂

        Cheers, your adoring fan,
        Mark

        Lyrics

Lucille, you won’t you do your sister’s will
Lucille, you won’t you do your sister’s will
You ran off and married but I love you still
Lucille, please, come back where you belong
Lucille, please, come back where you belong
I been good to you, baby, please, don’t leave me alone
I woke up this mornin’, Lucille was not in sight
I asked my friends about her but all their lips were tight
Lucille, please, come back where you belong
I been good to you, baby, please, don’t leave me alone
        Whoa
I woke up this mornin’, Lucille was not in sight
I asked my friends about her but all their lips were tight
Lucille, please, come back where you belong
I been good to you, baby, please, don’t leave me alone
        Lucille, baby, satisfy my heart
        Lucille, baby, satisfy my heart
I played for it, baby and gave you such a wonderful start

Hiya Leo, being a harmonica player i certainly relish this particular air! i love it. My fave chromatic harp players are Little Walter, Carey Bell, George “Harmonca” Smith and James Cotton. Usually 3rd position; ie band in D chro in C. Sometimes played with button in, with band in Eb. Incidentally, Walter Horton usually plays in 3rd position on the diatonic (viz small normal harp) as opposed to most guys whom play blues in 2nd position. 3rd position usually works good in minor keys. Check out ‘Flying Saucer’ by Little Walter for atypical sound.

Your sound is really full, with rich timbre and splendid phrasing. Yep the backing track is certainly well placed clear and unmuffled. Makes a big difference ya. Good song! Thanking you kindly as ever for sharing.

            Lyrics

No New Year’s Day to celebrate
No chocolate covered candy hearts to give away
No first of spring, no song to sing
In fact, here’s just another ordinary day
No April rain, no flowers bloom
No wedding Saturday within the month of June
But what it is, is something true
Made up of these three words that I must say to you
I just called to say I love you
I just called to say how much I care
I just called to say I love you
And I mean it from the bottom of my heart
No summer’s high, no warm July
No harvest moon to light one tender August night
No autumn breeze, no falling leaves
Not even time for birds to fly to southern skies
            No Libra sun, no Halloween
No giving thanks to all the Christmas joy you bring
But what it is, though old, so new
To fill your heart like no three words could ever do
I just called to say I love you
I just called to say how much I care, I do
I just called to say I love you
And I mean it from the bottom of my heart
I just called to say I love you
I just called to say how much I care, I do
I just called to say I love you
And I mean it from the bottom of my heart
            Of my heart
Of my heart (baby, of my heart)
