February 7, 2024 at 7:54 am #120221Howdy SP, that was quite the listing, bravo on all that work, I have a similar listing that you might like to try, I set up a excel spread sheet named “Johnny’s songs”, then i go to the alfa listing that Johnny has on his site, i simply copy the first set “A’s” and downsize the site and open the spread sheet and drop the copied section on to the workbook, then save it and downsize that and reopen johnnys list and then copy down the next letter group and repeat the process dropping the b section under the a’s eventually i have the entire listing on a spread sheet. The big plus is each song now on the spread sheet is active, just click on the title and it brings you right to the song so you can listen to it. I use it all the time. great for deciding the next song to get. LS PS i also change the color on the songs i have for a quick reference
guide.February 7, 2024 at 8:10 am #120223I’ve kept my list in a ‘checklist’ spreadsheet, where i have tick boxes in the left hand side rows, to keep track of songs i bought over the years.
Then i just copy and past the list of songs to this forum.the advantage of using a spreadsheet, is you can add new songs to the bottom, and just resort the list.
you don’y know me – should be you don’t know me (a miss spelling in the list).
let me know if i missed any out.February 7, 2024 at 11:12 am #120228SP I also have a couple of other lists of his songs so yes i can resort the titles whenever a new song comes along and i do add the new ones to the other spread sheet so i can use the title as a link. I just passed the 170 song mark with johnny songs definitely need a spread sheet to keep track of all those songs Its a great collection,
he really has the best site around for songs especially from the fifties to eighties.February 8, 2024 at 12:38 am #120240definitely, his backing tracks sound like the real thing.
February 8, 2024 at 3:35 am #120241Hi Saxomonica, I think “From Russia with Love” will be the title of Tucker Carlson’s next interview – LOL
February 8, 2024 at 10:15 am #120245Hiya @Jeff !
Are you the lovely gentleman that had posted a gorgeous air here on site just a few years back and i was really rude to you being at that time and i actually went so far as say to your song sounded tonally like, 3 Blind Mice?! Can you believe it. The audacity!
Please understand i still feel tragically upset about my unconstructive critiscm of your beautiful playing, at the time i did not really understand, nor could i perceive, just how long it really takes to find a reasonable sound from the saxophone what with correct mp placement, opening the throat up, keeping the shoulders back, steady air support from the diaghram, using overertones effectively, applying vibrato, finding a decent reed etc ..
I don’t sleep well, ‘a good conscience is a soft pillow’. It is oft easy to criticize someone else; however when you are pointing your finger at somebody else you are in reality pointing three back at yourself, say.
As a matter of fact my own sax playing is very ratty, much worse than a sick moose. I will post soon to demonstrate. The best sermon is a good example, and, explanations become excuses. Yours in honking out a good tune in any event.
What has 6 eyes but cant see?
3 blind mice.With sincere apologies,
Mark

February 8, 2024 at 1:21 pm #120247Hi Saxomonica, when you’re over sixty your memory helps you forget the unpleasant things and everything was better back then – LOL
Don’t worry about things I don’t remember. If it did happen, I probably deserved it as my playing isn’t very good anyway. If one doesn’t like honest feedback then they shouldn’t post their sub-standard efforts in public spaces. Rather like riding my bike I can get from A to B but I’m not going to win any track races. I just love to get the sax singing but my timing etc. isn’t anything to boast about. So sleep soundly and we’ll wait in annn-tiii-ciii-paaa-tion for the illegal truth video to drop 🙂BTW : I use Audacity to edit my sound files. Compress, amplify, add back-track etc.
