RandyVan: That is nice stuff! Johnny, check them out. I will go to that one. Playing junk for 3 years! Way to go! My teacher does not play his tenor all that much. He has a leather lig. Has not said much about the ligs, He is a clarinet guy. Major player, first chair etc. So, education is a wonderful thing. I have been looking at the Wanne. I do have the same question about the reed plate. Must of learned something along the way? I’ll buy one and get back.

Yes, it would be great if you got one and let us know what it’s like.

I bought a couple of Saxxas ligs last year – one for my tenor (Yammy YTS-23) and one for my sop (Yanagisawa SC-91). Very happy with them.

Remember though that MP & reed are probably more important than the actual horns, and are as personal as the ligs. You’ll have to find the combo that works for you. I can’t say that I’m quite there yet, but FWIW, on the Tenor I’m using a Selmer S80 C* MP mostly with a Van Doren 2.5 reed. On the sop it’s the original Yani MP and either Rico Hemke or vD reed (2.5 again).

          Enjoy the journey!

Johnny: I ordered a saxxas lig from sax-ccesories.com. They are the American distributor for saxxas of Germany. It is a internet sax supplier. The owner has been playing for years and has nothing but good to say of this product. I’ll let you know. Tim

I got my SAXXAS Lig today. It is everything Johnny said we should have. My low end is so much better than before. A very well made piece. There is a dealer in So Cal. sax-ccesories.com This is an internet business. The man that owns it has been playing for 40 years. He knows his stuff. Very in formative and no hassle to buy. Johnny told me to try another Meyer MP. The owner of the site said it was a very good choice. Not big bucks. So, I’ll see in a few weeks. Tim

Interesting… I have tried a couple of his and liked them , initially. They aren’t cheap so you’d really need to be over the moon for em.

Johnny: I got the saxxas lig yesterday. I get the low notes much easier now. It is real noticeable to me. I’ll see what my teacher thinks and let you know.

Ya, the lig is important, it won’t change your life and your sound like a mouthpiece or reed can but it can defininetly make a difference your you the player as far as easability goes (don’t know if that’s a real word!)

Johnny: I used my saxxas lig today in my lesson. My teacher said my sound was improved by alot. The low notes really speak. I am using a Meyer 5 and I had a Fibracell 2.5 today. After the basic lesson we play tunes. I did Sleepwalk for him. He said it was dead on. A little Night Train too. Did fine. Guys, the lig is worth it and sax-ccesories has the best price that I have found. Good luck. Tim
