Hi Nelstep,
I’ve been getting together with our local band director every Monday afternoon and he wanted be to play Baker Street too! And the funny thing is that his name is Mr.Baker (no joke LOL) He’s been teaching me about musical theory. For just about every lesson we’ve had, he makes good use of the Piano and it really has helped me out because I can see the scales and chords; my brain really connects with it because it seems like I can hear the chords/scales even better if I see them first. On our last lesson, we we’re working on Dominant Seventh Chords (C7, D7, etc.) I love how the minor 7th of the chord gives it that “bluesy” feeling like on D7 🙂 At first, it seemed kind of “weird” going from a Major 3rd (F#) to a minor 7th (C Natural) because I was thinking of the F# and C# for D major scale, but it adds so much. Can I contact you with any questions that I may have? Right now I’m focusing a lot on Improvisation.
