      Hey Johnny,
I have learned the Sax solo for this fantastic song below and I’m turning it into an Alto sax cover and I’m working on the main melody right now. The melody itself is in Cm and for Alto that means Am. Karaoke has a decent track for this song with custom features that I can remove the solo from their track (they do have A FEW decent backing tracks), so that I can play the solo myself….it’s the icing on the cake 🙂 But if you look at the description for this track on their website, they say it’s in Fm..I don’t hear the key of Fm on their backing track. I know the song is in Cm because I’ve learned the solo already on Alto, plus sheet music for this song is so widely available for the main melody, and they all say it’s in Cm too. I pasted a link below for the original recording and the link to Karaoke’s track to create your custom track and buy the song…notice the description of concert key they say it is. I just want to make absolutely 100% sure that I’m getting a track in the correct key.

hi – I check keys by looking at sample sheet music at http://www.musicnotes.com : http://www.musicnotes.com/sheetmusic/mtd.asp?ppn=MN0063789

and karaoke lets you make changed-key versions, to modify if you want, if i remember correctly

personally I like curtis’ transcripts for all sax parts, eg

yes, I used the sax solo sheet music from Curtis’ site to learn the solo and all Sax parts. Curtis’ Transcription for the solo in Alto is in Am and Dm for Tenor, meaning the song itself is in Cm like musicnotes.com shows it is because I always check with those folks like you mentioned, they’re very accurate. What I was getting at was Karaoke says the track they have for this song is in Fm and it’s not, their track in Cm–have a listen to the track and the actual song itself; they’re both in the same keys. So for them to say it’s in Fm was probably a typing error on their part; I’ve had that happen before with other tracks I’ve purchased from them. They have those features like you were saying to change the key a semi-tone/tone up or down. If you go down one semi-tone they say their track becomes Eb minor and typically it should–the problem is listen to it..that’s not Eb minor; that’s Bb minor we’re hearing–1 semi-tone below Cm.
