đ In listening to Earl Bostic playing “Harlem Nocturne” with the Alto–thanks for posting Harlem Nocturne on the blog Johnny! :)–I had to go to youtube to see if he really was playing that on the Alto…..unbelievable the guy was! His tone is so good that, I think, he undoubtedly fooled many into thinking that we was playing that song on the Tenor..I sure was fooled LOL He apparently played many of his songs on the Tenor too–but it’s hard with many of his songs to tell the difference, whether he’s playing it on Alto or Tenor. I can’t even begin to imagine the years of hard work it takes to get to that point in playing the Saxophone! When it comes to tone and tone development, I don’t know if there’s even that many professional players who ever get to the level that Earl Bostic Achieved!
