I’m totally new to sax and on my Alto I’m already having trouble with notes D and Low C. I blow them higher than they should be. I can blow them correctly occasionally but not straight off. Can anyone suggest what the problem is? Perhaps embouchure or lack of wind?

Not a problem, find the lowest note you can play properly, then work on the next lower note, by slurring down to it etc… lower notes usualy have less lower lip pressure
