I am an alto sax player from NY. Started playing alto sax (Mark VI) around '98 after getting back into the clarinet for five or six years and wanting to try my hand at rock music. I couldn't play a note without sheet music, though; had never played with amplified instruments (electric guitar, bass, or drummer); had no idea what the blues were, never mind improvising; didn't know I wasn't in the same key as everyone else…and the painful list goes on. It's been a long road and I'm still not there (wherever there is) but I'm having fun on the way, and that's what counts. Found Johnny on YouTube a couple of years ago doing that mad solo in a black and white video clip, and am glad to see he's now embraced teaching online. Go for it, Johnny! I like what I see already and am looking forward to more!
