      Hi All,

I’ve been playing sax since about 1957 through HS and then in the Army for a couple years. When I got out of the Army, I sat my sax down thinking I can play that and went about life. After about 25 years, I decided to pick it back up and play it. I joined a local community college jazz band and played in that for about 5 years. I’ve played in several community concert bands.

The biggest influence in getting back into playing sax was seeing a band called the Scottville Clown Band. They sounded wonderful coming down the street and looked hilarious doing so. After seeing this band in a parade is when I decided to attend a local community college jazz ensemble.

That was about 15 years ago. I am now the vice president of the Scottville Clown Band and enjoy playing my sax all the time. My regret is not playing during those 25 years, but I’m trying to pick up the pieces and learn what I’ve missed out on. It truly is more difficult learning this stuff now rather than back when I would have been younger.

Anyway, hello and no more setting my horn down.

Hi John, glad to hear from a fellow “Michigonian”. I live in Marshall, Mi at the cross roads of I94 & I69. Glad to hear your able to enjoy your sax routinely. Im 58 and am new to learning (3+ years) the sax, but with career demands, don’t see as much time on the sax as I would like. Look forward to hearing your participation!
