I just got my first sax and am trying to learn to play. Is it normal that my G often comes out real squeeky? Especially if I try to play just G, as part of the scale it usually comes out sounding nice.
      Thanks for your help,
      Dave

Try checking your tightness on your reed.

The G can be a problem in the beginning (not as much as the middle D though!)

It can be that you aren't hitting the fingering quite fast enough, if it keeps happening just make a concious effort to make sure all three fingers are down before you blow the note.

When tightening your reed it should be just snug, not too tight to choke it, and not too loose to allow it to move.

              good luck
              Johnny
