For anyone looking for sheet music to their favourite tunes, there’s a website called http://www.wikifonia.org. It has over 300 pages of tunes such as Moon River, Secret Agent Man, Maybelline, The Girl From Ipanema, etc. Tons of stuff and you can download for free and legally. Plus, you can download it for alto (Eb) or tenor(Bb) saxophones or in whatever key you like.
I’ve purchased two books in the Abersold series with backing tracks. The problem I have is that if I wanted ten of my favourite tunes, I’d have to buy maybe five books in the series. The good thing about free sheet music is that I can pick the music I like and then buy the backing tracks online for a couple of bucks each. I have no problem with buying tracks because they are the result of someone’s labour/creativity and in my own occupation I don’t work for free.
