you’ll have to keep adjusting cause you can’t touch the reed.
try about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch away from the tip of your mp and towards the tip of the roof of mouth…this is the best way IO can describe it.

        Hey Johnny,
You just said something that has clicked with me that I’m going to try–I’ve been having that problem of my tongue getting tied up with the reed too, very difficult to pull off. Part of my problem when doing the flutter is loosing air support to hold the intonation of the notes that we’re trying to flutter, ends up sounding like a deflated balloon or something LOL Thanks for the tip 🙂

@Andeas – when i flutter tongue i use the upper back of the tongue it creates exactly the same sound, theres no rolling of the tongue in
my case, and theres no out of pitch noises. If i flutter tongue without the mouthpiece – it sounds just like a rattle snake.

Another thing i find usefull is i flutter tongue with the tip of the tongue deliberately striking the reed, this creates speeds of 1/32 and 1/64 notes which gives the effect of super fast playing, very useful if you want to triple tongue etc.. So fluttering striking the tip is also useful if you can control it. (word of warning i have made my tongue bleed doing it)

Hi sxpoet, thank you very much. I will try that as well. I now often exercise with only the tip of my finger between the lips so I can do it as often as possible.
