I listen to this song–as well as other songs on “The Big Horn” CD collection I have (will be getting the others/Johnny’s CDs very soon) and can’t help but think about how, now that I’m starting to play in the Altissimo range–I can now tap into a totally new area of Saxophone playing that will add so, so much 🙂 It’s crazy to look at this song (which is my favorite King Curtis song) and to go from thinking “I could never hit those notes”…..to now knowing that not only I can hit them…but that I AM hitting them! 🙂 There’s NO WAY without enrolling in Johnny’s Altissimo course that it would have ever happened…….to say I’m excited about having really and truely started to hit these notes is a understatement. There’s no words to describe it 🙂

You only get out what you put in!August 22, 2014 at 4:30 pm #12517Hey Sxpoet: I saw your new Saxophone video–really cool song! Never even thought about that one on the Sax but it blends itself really well to our instrument; so your video was a little of an “eye opener” for me. In terms of me hitting these notes, I just shared a video in the blog…I’m not making it up or telling stories; the proof is on that video that shows; like you said, we get out of Johnny’s Altissimo course what we put into it; so you’re exactly right. Johnny also made some very good points, in his comment to me, how people will get side tracked and not finish what they started, I guess you could say. Go check out the video and read his comments, they’re very important points to keep in mind.

I’ve come to expect a high standard
of playing from you!!
i’m taking a grade 2 exam in November,
basicaly to get my time keeping sorted
out. Then i’ll have more time to resume
Johnny’s Altissimo course & try out his
new ones.
In the meantime the time keeping is
more important than hitting those high
notes.August 23, 2014 at 2:26 pm #12521AnonymousHey Michael – watched your video – awesome man!
Really pleased for you!
Your top note sounds just like my kettle whistling! -
