Christmas Saxophone Music
This easy Christmas Saxophone Music series includes 3 all-time favorite classics:
1. Jingle Bell Rock
The first song in this Christmas saxophone music series is a popular take off from the traditional Jingle Bells. Jingle Bell Rock was first recorded by Bobby Helms in 1957. Although many people have recorded it over the years, his is still one of the most popular versions along with Brenda Lee’s, who’s version was the main inspiration for this arrangement:
2. Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree
Brenda Lee recorded this song in 1958 and eventually became a huge hit for her topping the charts for several years during the holidays. The tenor saxophone solo really stands out because it was played by the awesome Boots Randolph. I tried to copy it as close as I could and have notated it note for note in the music download.
This solo is pure gold for anyone who wants to improve on their improvisation and serves as a great study over a simple two chord progression (1 and 4) for any pop, rock, jazz or blues based style of music:
3. White Christmas
Not only one of the most popular and biggest selling Christmas song but the largest selling single of all time, passing 50 million world wide. The most popular version was Bing Crosby’s recording which came out in 1959 and was the inspiration for this arrangement:
