      😎 Hey Johnny,
Really looking forward to learning “What Does It Take” starting later this month. One of the songs I had on my personal to-do list was “How Sweet It Is” by Marvin Gaye….I had no idea that Junior Walker and the All Stars had actually done this super-cool, groovy, Motown version of this song too! I REALLY like this one…just listen to the Sax lines and rhythm 🙂 I think I’m hearing something like the key of Eb or F on this song?

Great version Babs. This going straight to my iphone. The sax lines don’t sound over difficult.

Yeah…..I LOVE this stuff on the Saxophone……SO good 🙂 I bought the Sax lines from mysolospot.com just about an hour ago…there’s like over 8,000 Saxophone songs that Curtis, the owner, has transcribed from many, many great Saxophone players–and it is in the Key of Eb for Tenor Sax, so I was close when listening to it and wondering what key it was in for Tenor Sax. Give him an mp3 file and he can transcribe it for you. I wanted him to do “Funky Bug” by Big Jay McNeely for me sometime this year too 🙂
Looking at the sheet music for “How Sweet It Is”, the lines look to be pretty easy. I prefer to play these great Motown songs on the Tenor; that’s what Junior Walker played it on. I prefer to use the Alto for music that is a little bit more Contemporary or what I’ll be uploading to the blog when I get back home after the 23rd. I’m going to rest for about a week before doing any uploading though…haven’t seen my wife/kids since September 🙁

Ya Michael, another big hit for him. good version which I played with my band many times. I’m currently on the road and can’t confirm the key but I think he did it in C. When I get home I’m gonna start working on that improv lesson for the major scale, this will totally work on this song too as well as What does it take of course.
Guys, sorry if I haven’t been too active but sometimes the schedule doesn’t allow for too much time on the computer and when I get some the hotel wi-fi can really be bad if at all.

            cheers
            Johnny

Don’t apologise Johnny. We all value what you do for us and you gotta do what you do best as well as earn a living. Look forward to those lessons.

Cool that you guys are on tour right now Johnny–any type of lesson you can release involving Improvisation is awesome. I’m going to start working on the Green Onions in Gm and Am when I get back home. I’ll e-mail you the sheet music Curtis with mysolospot.com (formerly called saxsolos.com) sold me. Have fun on your tour Johnny!
