Hey Saxohol (cool name) thanks for sharing this–looks like you got a sax set up that’s dialed in for sure; really like the sound you’re getting on your horn. I’ve never tried the Java Reds before but have heard great things about them–I’m using the Java Greens. Can’t go wrong with Java reeds for sure. I would recommend you post your video in the “Member’s Videos” on the blog as more of the members here on Johnny’s site will see it and be able to provide you with valuable tips/insights….I’m sure they’ll love the sound you’re getting too.
You’re getting a really cool sound–has a Vintage, Jazz-like sound đ One of the things I see here is to focus more on controlling the timing of the notes, particularly in the solo of this song. One thing that can help is check out Johnny playing this song, you can get a “feel” for that rhythm necessary for this song. Think about tonging the notes and don’t cut them short; this can help to prevent them from being run-in together v.s. sounding very distinct and that may be one thing that is affecting your timing. It will also help to listen to the specific notes that Johnny is emphasizing in the solo; which really can really add a lot to your playing too.
Post your video in the “Member’s Videos” on the blog–Part 6–and more people will see it.
oh sorry, I just posted my comments in the blog not realizing these were also posted here…will probably take them down as we use the blog for this, but it’s ok you didn’t ow that.
