Hi there,
I’m finding the first 12 bars of this song fairly easy to play, but whenever I take a breath, it seem like a missed note. I can’t really see where and if you breathe in the video. Surely one cannot play 12 bars without breathing?
I would also like to know how to do those glissando’s. Do I run up/down using the blues scale? Or chromatic?
In bars 16 and 20 a run is done up the (I think) G blues scale, but the B is also played. Why is that? Or is this a common thing to add other notes?
Thanks for your lessons. You’re a real inspiration.
I take really quick short breathes every bar or two, just find that spot before the pickup note (last note of the bar).
Very common to alternate between the major and minor 3rd in this type of stuff… regardless if the song is in a major or minor key.
If it’s a major key and you play the minor 3rd it gives a very nasty sound in which case I love to dirty it up a bit with a growl….very effective.
So yes, this tune is in G and there is much alternating between the B and Bb.
As for glissando’s, I have a full lesson video on them:

Thanks for the help, Johnny.
I must say, the song is a breeze on the alto, but for the tenor I need to work on those altissimo notes. Will look at your course on that in the near future.
