Hi Johnny, I’ve been recording myself on my Iphone with acceptable results. Now, I would like to start playing with my Macbook Pro, mixing stuff with Garage Band, looks like a lot of fun.
I have a couple of microphones with the standard jacks for a mixing board. What do you recommend to use a far as a microphone interface to plug into my Mac? Are there any “entry level” (cheap) devices you know of or have used?
Thx, Pierre J.
Yes Pierre, you can use a trusty and very common mic like the shure sm57 with a computer line adapter (this mic is around $100) There is nothing better for less than that.
There are also more choices that are more geared for computer recording (condenser mics) which might give you a warmer sound than the shure’s.
A great choice also is the Apogee Mic which was created specifically for computer recording. Apogee makes more high end products which sound really good. This mic is a little more than the 2 I already mentioned but probably the best sounding. I’ve had other Apogee products and know the qual;ty but unfortunately I’ve never tried this mic.
