i use the following ligature
https://www.rovnerproducts.com/versa-ligature
what i did was replace the metal plate with two thin metal plates with a thin screw to keep them together, then i cut two squares out of the sides of the leather so that there’s only two thin stripes of leather holding the metal base onto the reed.
Ie – i physically cut off all the leather just leaving 4 thin strips of leather to hold the reed on the mouthpiece, so most of the mouthpiece is exposed instead of being hidden by leather.
then i did a test recording using a GoPro to record the alto and the live backing track in the room
followed by two more test recordings to hear what the sound ranges were like,
i should have cleaned the spit out of the mouthpiece in the last two recordings
i’m quite pleased with the sound
