That stinks. Hopefully it’s a quick heal for you. Yup. No hover boards for me either. Get better! You a deserve a break. But not in this fashion.

  • Mart Winston says:

Hope you get better soon and I’m praying for you!!!

  • Mel says:

Hover boards look fun. Haven’t tried one. Hope you have a fast recovery and are back blowing in no time!

  • Johnny:
Hope you recover quickly. At least you were not playing when it happened and totaled your horn.

Bad deal for sure Johnny!!! Johnny, should I send a pic of Alpine snow boarding? You might want to try that next?? Hmmm? Your wife might hide all that kind of stuff. Take it easy! Recover fast my friend!!! Tim

  • OUCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Speedy Recovery Johnny, all the best, I’ve been involved in Martial arts for over 40 years and have never broke anything during competitions that I use to do, a good number of years ago. A couple years ago trying to show my wife I could climb one of our large trees like I did when I was 16 , coming down I slipped and fell out of the dang tree and broke my ankle so I was out of flying for two months of course her comment was “way to go Genius”

Wishing you all the best Johnny.

  • John Reyes says:

Aw Johnny, that’s terrible. Reminds me of the time a few years back when I drove a three wheeled ATV into a ditch. Got banged up pretty good, but then and there I decided that as a mature adult I would no longer try to think that I could do those things a younger person could.easily do. Since then, no mishaps, knock on wood. Hope you have a quick recovery

While you’er recuperating I suppose you could try the Trumpet with your right hand. So in the meantime I’ll be practicing Shotgun, Wave, Fly Me to the Moon (Sinatra style)). I’m making a musical picture of an 1800 western town with music from “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly” and Maurice Jarre’s “Theme” from “Villa Rides”. So life in the high plains Mesa is good.
Yesterday the fatboy mouthpiece sounded good with a medium soft onyx reed. Catch you on the flip side

  • john says:

Thanks guys…I actually played trumpet in high school before I got my sax so I could play a few notes but I don’t want to go there at this point!
Last year at my cousin’s BBQ i was playing baseball with the kids and I swung the bat so hard I pulled my bicep muscle which took months of physio therapy and now this…..my wife said I’m not allowed to play with the kids anymore!

  • Hi Johnny,
Playing the saxophone looks easy, but isn’t that simple as we all know. The same thing for Hoover boards…. I wish you a speedy recovery! Take care!!
    Warm greetings,
    Dion

  • LOL welcome to the world of old people i wiped out too, kids just seem to pull it off right away, keep it safe drink some wine and relax for awhile,

  • john says:

Thanks again…ya, wine I got (make my own every year)

  • Derek says:

Bummers Johnny hope it is quick recovery. I was thinking about doing some roller blading again but now I think I will pass on it again this year..

  • Theo Marais says:

Same thing with mountain bike riding. That’s my keep-fit sport. Some of these trails too hairy for me to ride risk-wise, so I had to scale down to the more gentle slopes and trails! Sad but true as we age. Interested in your wine-making though (my daughter is a winemaker in South Africa). Pray tell more?

  • Eva Flow says:

We ALL sorry for what happen to you. At least it happen while you had some fun.
I can imagine how doctor was surprised that from all the patient he has to help THE Saxophonist .
( Having the same experience but with the Sax. When you are playing – it looks so easy. When I’m trying
    – I’m about break the instrument or fingers ha,ha)
Wishing speedy recovery without any complications.

  • Feel better Johnny. Speedy recovery!

  • Patrick says:

    Wishing you a speedy recovery!

  • john says:

    @theo
I’ve been making wine since I was a teenager
My dad started making it as soon as we immigrated to Canada in 1963
These days me and a few other guys bring up the grapes from California in a huge trailer
We crush them we don’t buy pre made juice or use concentrate wine kits it’s the real deal and I love it!

  • Mark Payne says:

I wish you a quick recovery. The older I get the more I think twice about making that jump on my mountain bike or trying something unknown. Recovery times aren’t what they used to be.

  • walley says:

    Wow!

I have the same problem with lofts, fell through them twice.

Looks like nows a great opportunity for me to beat you at ARM WRESTLING?

Stick to paddle boards on the sea or lakes!

Karma? Never mind, ‘Always look on the bright side of life’ – you get a different type of break (bonus).

Get well soon – You’ll soon get back into the swing of things, when you sling that thing off.

Just hope you aren’t left handed.

  • Dangerous the picnics huh ?
I wish you all the best and a quick recovery Johnny !
    Take care of yourself.

  • john says:

they took the cast off now, so just a wrist splint. the swelling went away and while it is a bit tender with certain movements there is not serious fracture etc. so I just need to be careful for a while, thanks everyone!

  • walley says:

Recovery speeds are relative to the amount of exercise of various limbs/muscles of the body, (the heart is a muscle) that a person does throughout the week.

As you play the sax a lot, your arms and hands should recover a lot quicker, than someone who doesn’t exercise their arms and hands a lot (like couch potatoes).

as an example – look at mick jagger and his fitness routine and look how quickly he recovered from a heart op, lack of physical exercise does slow down recovery rates of any kind.

Anyway, glad to hear you are back in the saddle

  • Mike Potter says:

Wow! I need to pay more attention to things posted here, very sorry to hear about the accident, but happy to hear things are getting back to normal.

  • john says:

Happy September everyone… I’m going for my 3rd physio session on my wrist this week. Must admit, slowly getting better with every session. they recently gave me a couple exercises to build up strength so feeling good about that. Hope to be more productive with music and other content here soon.
