I’ve just uploaded the third Lesson in this Shotgun solo series. This will add the 3rd degree of the scale to our exercises and looks at two ways to incorporate this very important note!
Let me know if you’re working on these lessons and how you’re getting on with them so far.

To do an improve or riff I have to hum it, make a melody out of it, like “Shot gun Mamma, Kindly put yo shot gun down”. By the time I sort of get a riff together the music is way ahead of me. Then I can blow ba ba baba ba ba baba. etc etc etc. I haven’t tried to record yet. So I’m working on it. Music is like a language. I can read the language but I can’t speak(talk) the language yet.

Right on guys good to hear…
William, try to have a couple riffs together that you know inside out so you can lay em down before the music gets ahead of you.
this is the time to work them out, while we’re only working on these first handful of notes. But just because there are only these few notes doesn;t mean there aren’t several good riffs to be had….just look at the riffs Jr Walker is pulling off on these few notes. Start by copying him, as I suggested with those first 3 notes of the intro solo.
