Hi, boyz…
Just to improve my poor “studio recording” which consist of an Android smartphone and that’s all (laughs accepted), I’d like to know about your personal setup.
I’m not in the path od building a home studio… just to have a good mic/recorder combo, to get some mp3 files for myself. I know there are lots of USB mics on the market to hook up into a laptop. Does that simple setup give reasonable audio quality? I would prefer a bell clip-on microphone (to minimize room reverb), but could not find so far any of those type with USB connection…
Any comments welcome.
Marc.
hi Marc – i can’t really help, as
i bought an audio interface that you plug the mic’s into and headhones – i don’t use USB interfaces so can’t recomend any.
I have got a clip on mic but now
i clip it onto the music stand instead of the sax as it records
better that way.
I’m sure there must be people in here that use USB mic’s that can respond to your query.
Thanks Poet… actually I’m trying to find a clip-on mic for an easy operation… don’t wanna be messing around with tripods, stands, etc. What brand/model is yours? Just to search if there’s a USB version…
hi Marc – ive got a akg c519m

good searching
Hi, Poet…
After searching and researching, I’m afraid there’s no clip-on USB mic on the market… at least the online market I have access to.
So, I’m strongly considering stretching my budget and get a AKG 519 like yours. They’re around $150.
Are you using it on the wireless platform? Or do you connect it directly into your recorder?
As far as I could see it does not need a phantom power, so it should be good to plug it into the mic connector of a digital recorder.
Thanks.
Marc.
Hi Marc,
the C519m – uses phantom power, the audio interface that i connect it
to has phantom power.
cheers
