My name is Henning, living in Norway. I got my first sax about 3 years ago, at the age of 61. (Yes, I do play the Beatles’ When I’m Sixty-four.) I had never really played any instrument before, apart from some piano and guitar at a rather basic level. My horn is a Yamaha YAS-62 with a Selmer USA mouthpiece. (I actually invested in a rather expensive VanDoren mouthpiece, but I could never make it sound right.) I have learned a lot over the past 3 years, practicing at least one hour daily, but I still have lots to learn. I actually played in a big band for a while, but the band went into hiatus after its economy sort of faltered. I wasn’t that fond of its repertoire anyway, as my taste is leaning more towards jazz, blues and rock than marches and stuff. I must be one of the UK’s Book Depository’s best customers, having bought dozens of instructional and sheet music books from them :-)) That is, apart from a bunch of books about my second hobby, home beer brewing.

Hello Henning, welcome and good luck moving forward with your sax.
My home brewing hobby includes wine making! I love it and make it every year using California grapes.
