I have a dent in my tenor sax neck due to the plastic hook on my neck strap breaking while I was playing and I was thinking of buying a tool to remove the dent, which is about $35-$40. I could buy a new neck but they are a lot more than that, like $150 and up. Is there an advantage to upgrading the neck, maybe my money would be better spent? The neck is just what came with the sax, a Gemienhardt student model, GST600LQ, they go new for about $1500. Just thought I would throw this out there in case someone has some knowledge in this area. I appreciate any input, thanks.

I have done both; gotten the dent fixed and have also replaced a neck.
Personally I wouldn’t buy the tool because for a bit more money a repair guy can do it and probably better and faster than me.
There can be an advantage with a new neck because they can effect the tone. Mine is a pro selmer tho and so don’t know if the difference would show on the student model you have.
Why don’t you take it in and get a quote for them to do the repair and go from there.
