        yeah – i like hearing all thise different sax effects/articulations – got my sax teacher to show ms how ben webster plays, i thought it was impossible to do but live & learn..,

          Yes…those videos of King Curtis with Jack Dupree is a perfect example of what Johnny told me when I did the Green Onions about keeping the licks/riffs simple. I’m really glad he brought that out too because it’s starting to click with me mentally. What you see on those videos is the “heart and soul” of what Saxophone playing is about here in the South. I know for myself in trying to learn how to play the Blues (I’m trying to anyway LOL), it brings a big smile to my face because it just ‘clicks’ with me in terms of how I want to express myself. Look at King Curtis and Jack Dupree playing, they’re just using the Blues Scales, improvising and expressing themselves….there’s no sheet music. Thanks for sharing Tim, we’ll chat later this evening on Skype and have some fun/share some ideas 🙂
